Licensed Employees: Virginia Code § 22.1-298.7, states, in part, “Each school board shall adopt and implement policies that require each teacher and any other school board employee holding a license issued by the Board to complete a cultural competency training, in accordance with guidance issued by the Board, at least every two years.” Accordingly, the Pittsylvania County School Board adopted policy to support this requirement. Specifically, School Board Policy GCL, Professional Staff Development, was revised and adopted on July 13, 2021, to be implemented for the 2022-2023 school year.
Accordingly, to be in compliance, Pittsylvania County Schools will require all employees licensed by the Board of Education to complete this training. The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) has developed a free Cultural Competency Training Module to meet this requirement. This 40-minute module is accessible at the following URL:URL:

Once completed, a certificate of completion will be available for you to save and print. Please provide a copy to your principal when completed.
